Comfort and Care Kits (Coming Soon)

Hospital visits can happen unexpectedly for people living with kidney disease. When an emergency occurs, many patients arrive with little time to gather the basic items that help make a hospital stay more manageable.

Northwest Kidney Connection is currently developing a Hospital Emergency Kit Program designed to provide patients with small care packages containing practical essentials and comfort items during hospital stays.

These kits are intended to help individuals focus on their health instead of worrying about everyday necessities during an already stressful moment.

What the Program Will Provide

Each Hospital Emergency Kit is being designed to include helpful items such as:

Basic personal care items (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant)

Comfort items such as socks or lip balm

A phone charging cable

Notepad and pen for writing down medical information

Helpful resource information from Northwest Kidney Connection

The goal is to provide simple but meaningful support that helps patients maintain comfort and dignity during unexpected hospital visits.

Program Status

The Hospital Emergency Kit Program is currently in development and is not yet active.

Northwest Kidney Connection is working on program planning, supply sourcing, and community partnerships to make this initiative possible.

We hope to launch this program in the future as resources and support allow.

Side-by-Side: Peer Mentorship

What is Side by Side?

Side by Side is NW Kidney Connection’s peer mentorship program for adults living with kidney disease and their spouses or partners. We match people navigating dialysis, transplant, or caregiving with trained mentors who’ve been there, someone who truly gets it.

Whether you’re newly diagnosed or just feeling isolated, you deserve connection and support from someone who understands.

How It Works

One-on-one mentorship

Flexible & virtual (Zoom or phone)

Mentors are trained volunteers who are patients or partners themselves

Completely free and confidential

Why Mentorship?

This isn’t about giving advice, it’s about sharing stories, holding space, and being real.
